Zion Williamson has yet to take the court for a single game in his third NBA season. But according to recent reports from NBA insider Shams Charania, the Pelicans star is making some strides in the right direction.
Williamson traveled with his New Orleans squad on a four-game road trip starting with tomorrow night’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.
This is the first multi-game road trip Williamson has taken with the team all season.
“Steps in right direction as he continues to progress but remains out indefinitely,” Charania reports.

Williamson, who suffered a broken foot just before the start of the 2021-22 season, spent a significant chunk of his rehab and recovery time away from the Pelicans organization. The former No. 1 overall pick returned to New Orleans earlier this month after spending nearly two months rehabbing in Portland.
Given the starting location of this week’s road trip, it’s likely that Williamson will continue working on his rehab process throughout the week.
Williamson has been participating in some light basketball activities, but is not expected to return to the court this season. Without their 21-year-old star, the Pelicans hold the ninth spot in the Western Conference with a 32-43 record.
