Will Smith, the baseball player, is probably wishing now more than ever that he didn’t share the same name as the popular actor.
Will, a catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was booed by the crowd at Surprise Stadium on Thursday afternoon. It was all a joke, of course.
Will Smith, the actor, has come under fire this week for his actions at The Oscars. He infamously slapped Chris Rock while the comedian was hosting the event. Rock made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, during his routine. Will wasn’t a fan.
Baseball fans, meanwhile, had a bit of fun with the Dodgers catcher on Thursday afternoon.
“The crowd at Surprise Stadium just booed the Dodgers’ Will Smith. It’s unclear if they’re still pressed about the Oscars or something else,” Kennedi Landry tweeted.

Will Smith then did what he does best and slapped (pun intended) a triple out to dead center.
“Crowd at Surprise booed #Dodgers Will Smith. He then slapped a triple to straightaway center,” Juan Toribio added.

Maybe fans should keep booing Will Smith, the baseball player. It seems to help.
We fully expect the Los Angeles Dodgers to have some fun with this the rest of the season. All puns are welcome.
