Let’s take a look the Raiders’ wide receiver room now:
New free agent added:
Michael Gallup.
Free agents re-signed:
None.
Free agent who departed:
None.
Players cut:
Hunter Renfrow.
Remaining unrestricted free agents:.
DeAndre Carter.
Conclusion:
It wouldn’t have been a surprise if the Raiders had selected a wide receiver at some point of the draft. The team clearly thought they had a need or they wouldn’t have made the swift decision to sign Gallup, who had 34 catches in 2023 and who has 266 receptions in six NFL seasons. The Raiders also visited with former Chargers receiver Jalen Guyton on Monday. Guyton, who was with Las Vegas general manager Tom Telesco with the Chargers, could also sign for a chance to compete for a roster spot and the Raiders could still tinker with the bottom of the rotation at the position. Gallup will compete with second-year player Tre Tucker to be the No. 3 receiver behind starters Davante Adams and Jakobi Myers, who make one of the best starting tandems in the league.
