If the Atlanta Falcons’ joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday is any indication, wide receiver Calvin Ridley is in for an incredible Year 4 in 2021.
In a 1 vs. 1 drill with the Miami defensive backs, Ridley hit a crisp route in the end zone — leaving Dolphins cornerback Byron Jones (the fifth highest-paid CB in the league) dead in his tracks.
Here’s a clip of the play:

This wasn’t the only time Ridley torched a Dolphins defender this week.
During yesterday’s first day of Falcons/Dolphins joint practice, the former first-round pick absolutely torched All-Pro corner Xavien Howard on a hesitation go-route down the right side of the field.

Ridley is coming off the best season of his career in 2020. Through 15 starts, the former Crimson Tide standout logged a team-high 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns.
With Julio Jones injured for most of the season, Ridley was burdened with the majority of the receiving load in 2020. And now with Jones heading to the Tennessee Titans, that load falls on the young wideout once again. Fortunately for the Falcons, the addition of rising-star tight end Kyle Pitts should help ease the burden on Ridley’s shoulders.
The Falcons and Dolphins will face off later this week as they each head into their second preseason matchup on Saturday.
Ridley will look to replicate this joint-practice dominance in some full-game action.
