The sports world is currently preparing for the start of the football season, but there’s a much bigger and more important story on everyone’s minds.
Hurricane Ida.
The major storm, currently a category four hurricane with 150 mph winds, is making landfall in Louisiana.
Videos of the hurricane making landfall have surfaced on social media. They’re pretty terrifying to watch.

Looks like @johnhumphress camera which is mounted 7 FEET high in Grand Isle, Louisiana has been taken over by #Ida’s storm surge. Here’s the last few seconds the camera caught inside the eyewall before going offline. #LAwx pic.twitter.com/qzSXCXjT5j

The state of Louisiana has been evacuating for safer pastures throughout the weekend. That includes the sports teams, like LSU football – which traveled to Houston – and the Saints – which will practice at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Our thoughts remain with everyone impacted by this serious storm.
We’re 16 years removed from Hurricane Katrina, which caused significant damage across the south, especially in Louisiana. Unfortunately, it looks like Ida could be just as damaging, if not more so.
“Ida will most definitely be stronger than Katrina, and by a pretty big margin. And, the worst of the storm will pass over New Orleans and Baton Rouge, which got the weaker side of Katrina,” Yahoo! News reports.
The United Way is already taking donations for Hurricane Ida relief. Anyone interested in donating can do so here.
Our thoughts remain with everyone in Hurricane Ida’s path.
