There was plenty of NCAA Tournament action for the college basketball fans out there on Thursday.
However, the best play of the day may not have come from a basketball player or coach. No, the best moment of the NCAA Tournament thus far came from a pair of cheerleaders.
During a game between No. 5 seed Saint Mary’s and No. 12 seed Indiana, a missed shot went soaring over the backboard. The ball remained lodged behind the backboard and halted play.
The Gaels’ Matthias Tass attempted to retrieve the ball with a broom, but not even he could reach it – even though he stands never seven feet tall. After a few more attempts to poke the ball free, the true heroes arrived.
Two Indiana cheerleaders joined forces to save the day. A male cheerleader hoisted a female cheerleader into the air and she was able to grab the ball.
The duo received a standing ovation and an incredible call on their “game-saving” maneuver.
Check it out.

It doesn’t get much better than that.
Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, that was pretty much their only highlight of the night. Saint Mary’s took a commanding lead in the first half and never looked back.
The Gaels hold a 77-45 lead late in the second half.
