Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been one of the most consistent players in the league over the past three seasons. With one year remaining on his rookie deal, he’s expected to want a lucrative extension.
While it’s possible McLaurin will receive an extension from the Commanders this offseason, Grant Paulsen of The Athletic said an offer has not yet been made.
“Source tells me the Commanders have yet to make a contract offer to extend Terry McLaurin,” Paulsen reported on Friday. “McLaurin is entering the 4th and final season of his rookie deal. The team met with his agent at the NFL Combine and recently said they had an ongoing dialogue. Thus far no contract offer.”
Paulsen added that Washington will have more money to spend once Landon Collins’ cap relief hits.

The Commanders don’t really have to rush their negotiations with McLaurin at this time. Historically, teams get extensions done with players on expiring deals during training camp.
Besides, Commanders head coach Ron Rivera has already told the fan base to be patient when it comes to this process.
“I think the biggest thing is just [telling] everybody patience,” Rivera said, via The Athletic. “We’ve got plenty of time.”
Since entering the league in 2019, McLaurin has 222 catches for 3,090 yards and 16 touchdowns.
