The feds are getting involved

Per CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin, the U.S. House of Representative’s Oversight Committee is now looking into the email scandal that forced former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden to resign.

EXCLUSIVE: Source says U.S. House of Representative’s Oversight Committee is now looking into the NFL’s Jon Gruden/email scandal. The Committee issued a letter to Roger Goodell on Thursday requesting info on the Washington Football Team investigation. Story soon at @CBSSports.

The committee is asking the NFL to produce all documents, communications, reports or findings in regards to the Washington Football Team investigation, stating: “We hope and trust the NFL shares the Committee’s goal of protecting American workers from harassment and discrimination.”

The Washington Post also revealed some information on the matter, including a significant quote from the letter that was sent by the Oversight Committee which read: “We have serious concerns about what appears to be widespread abusive workplace conduct at the WFT and about the NFL’s handling of this matter.”

Back in July, the NFL fined the Washington Football Team $10 million in wake of a sexual misconduct scandal, but the league did not release a public report. They conducted over 150 interviews and sifted through 650,000 emails as well as several other documents, and the only information that has been made public knowledge is Gruden’s emails with former WFT president Bruce Allen.

The House of Representatives seems to be more concerned with the situation that’s going on between Washington and the NFL, so the Raiders and Gruden seem to only be loosely attached to this new probe…for now at least.
