Free-agent safety Tyrann Mathieu made one heck of a comparison when he was speaking about Joe Burrow.
Mathieu made an appearance on the Jordy Culotta show and confirmed that Burrow reminds him of Tom Brady in a lot of ways. He also spoke about how hard it was to contain Burrow in the AFC Championship Game earlier this year.
“It was tough to stop Joe,” Mathieu said. “The league is built for guys like Joe and Ja’Marr. When you piece together the mental and smarts of the game, he will be doing that for a long time. I see a lot of Tom Brady in him. He doesn’t flinch.”
The Chiefs played the Bengals twice this past season and lost both times. The first game was played in Cincinnati towards the end of the regular season which was a back-and-forth affair.
Cincinnati ended up winning the game on a last-second field goal.
Kansas City then looked like it was going to go to another Super Bowl after taking a 21-3 lead on Cincinnati in that AFCCG. Burrow was able to leas the Bengals back and outscore the Chiefs 24-3 to send them to the Super Bowl.
Burrow will look to lead the Bengals back to the Super Bowl in 2022 and potentially win one this time.
As for Mathieu, he’s biding his time as a free agent. There’s no timetable for him to sign with a new team.
