Kawhi Leonard has spent the entire season recovering from an ACL tear, but the Los Angeles Clippers have yet to shut the door on a possible postseason return.
Ty Lue’s latest update put a damper on those slim hopes.
According to Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times, the Clippers head coach said Leonard has yet to move beyond individual workouts into three-on-three scrimmages.
Kawhi Leonard hasn’t progressed beyond individual workouts, coach Ty Lue said. Asked whether Leonard has been able to play 3-on-3 or beyond, Lue shook his head.

The 40-40 Clippers close out their season with back-to-back games this weekend before entering the play-in tournament. Already locked into the Western Conference’s No. 8 spot, they’ll face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, with the winner advancing to play a best-of-seven series against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The loser will play a win-or-go-home contest against either the New Orleans Pelicans or San Antonio Spurs.
Given Leonard’s current status, it’s highly doubtful the two-time NBA Finals MVP and Defensive Player of the Year will be anywhere close to returning to action next week. The Clippers would likely require a deep playoff run to have any shot of welcoming back the 30-year-old star, but they’d need Leonard to pull that off.
Leonard hasn’t played since suffering the ACL tear during last year’s Western Conference semifinals matchup against the Utah Jazz.
