Troy Aikman very much knows what it’s like to be the Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback. The Hall of Famer won three Super Bowls leading the Cowboys in the 1990s, after all.
Does Aikman want to see Dak Prescott do the same?
Some believe that the Cowboys could be better off drafting a quarterback at the top of the 2021 NFL Draft so they don’t have to pay Prescott a longterm contract.
Aikman isn’t one of those people, though. The legendary Cowboys quarterback made his thoughts on Prescott extremely clear this week. Aikman wants to see Prescott in a Cowboys uniform for the rest of his career.
The Hall of Fame quarterback does not see the Cowboys drafting a quarterback.
“I’m a huge fan, as you know,” Aikman said of Prescott, via USA TODAY Sports. “I think the guy’s a wonderful individual, a great leader, a great teammate. I mean, everything that you want. And he’ll get his money. He got money this year, that’s nothing to be upset about. But his big payday, multi-year contract is coming.
“And I’ll be the happiest person around for him.”
The Cowboys have missed Prescott in a big way this season. Dallas is 2-7 on the season, having lost every game since his season-ending injury.
Prescott is expected to make a full recovery and return by this spring.
