Some key players have stood out so far
The Las Vegas Raiders have held five training camp practices so far and Monday things were turned up a notch as the team practiced in pads for the first time.
A few players who made some news thus far, let’s take a look:
Tommy Eichenberg:
The 2024 fifth-round pick has been getting some time with the first-team linebackers in the past couple of days. The Ohio State product didn’t do much on defense as a rookie and he will likely have a difficult time bypassing the veteran starters this year. But it is impressive that he is getting some early work with the first team. It’s a sign that Eichenberg has impressed the coaching staff and he may be making strides. He could be a factor this season.
Jordan Meredith:
He worked over Jackson Powers-Johnson in two practices so far, which is a surprise. It has been speculated that it just might be a practice thing to get Meredith comfortable with Geno Smith and Powers-Johnson comfortable with backup Aidan O’Connell in case of injuries. But it is something to keep an eye on if Meredith continues to work with the starters. Either way, both Meredith and Powers-Jackson should be starters at either guard or center.

Decamerion Richardson:
The 2024 fourth-round pick has been working with the starters some so far like Eichenberg. Richardson was forced into action as a rookie because of injuries and he struggled some. He has been a mixed bag so far in training camp. But it’s important for the young cornerback to get work because Richardson will likely be in the playing rotation in the season.
Tre Tucker:
The third-year wide receiver had a big day Monday in practice. Tucker’s long speed plays with the arm strength of Smith so he can be a weapon. Tucker was lackluster as a starter last season and the Raiders have brought in some young receivers. But it is clear he should have a role in Chip Kelly’s offense this season.
