After losing wide receiver Mike Evans due to an injury, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should be in pursuit of a new offensive weapon. While the team has a ton of talent between rookie Emeka Egbuka, Tez Johnson, Sterling Shepard and Chris Godwin, when healthy, the Buccaneers should still get a capable receiver to fill the hole. After the contested catch, Evans went down with a concussion, but it wasn’t the only injury he suffered on the play. He also suffered a broken clavicle, and it’s hard to imagine what his future holds either way after the 2025 campaign.
While many may not know if Evans will continue playing in the league beyond this season, the Buccaneers need a reset in their receiving corps either way. With Godwin slowing down, it’s obvious that if they want a real chance in the postseason, they will need to make a splash here before the trade deadline.

With Evans out for the rest of the season, this means Johnson, Egbuka, Shephard and Ryan Miller will need to step into a heavier role. While they’re not the most exciting receivers on the roster, they can’t do much either way when it comes to the postseason. Quarterback Baker Mayfield’s performance on the field in the loss against the Lions is proof of what may come down if they find a fix soon.
