How much longer is Tom Brady going to play in the National Football League?
At 44, he’s already the oldest quarterback in the league – by a long shot. And with seven Super Bowls, he’s already accomplished more than anyone else before him.
But Brady has made it clear that he’s going to continue to play in the NFL as long as he believes he can win a championship.
Brady spoke with NBC Sports NFL insider Peter King about his mindset when it comes to retirement earlier this week.
“I’ll know when the time’s right,” Brady told King about retirement. “If I can’t . . . if I’m not a championship-level quarterback, then I’m not gonna play. If I’m a liability to the team, I mean, no way. But if I think I can win a championship, then I’ll play.”
Brady and the Buccaneers are coming off a Super Bowl season. They will enter the 2021 regular season among the favorites to win it all again.
Tampa Bay is scheduled to open the 2021 season on Thursday, Sept. 9 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. E.T. The game will air on NBC.
