The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans are enjoying a joint practice this week, reuniting Tom Brady with Titans head coach and former Patriots teammate Mike Vrabel. And as always, Brady is having some fun at his ex-teammate’s expense.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Brady joked that Vrabel has “mellowed” as a coach and is not as “chattery” as he was as a teammate. Brady also joked that Vrabel doesn’t complain that he doesn’t get passes “like a typical diva receiver.”
The receiver joke was a reference to how much success Vrabel found as a goalline receiver. Every reception he ever had went for a touchdown.
His 12 career catches in the regular and postseason netted 17 yards and 12 touchdowns. His two postseason receptions came in Super Bowl wins over the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Mike Vrabel enjoyed a 14-year career with eight of those seasons coming with Brady and the Patriots. While he played linebacker, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick discovered early on just how good Vrabel was on the goalline.
Vrabel won three Super Bowl rings with the Patriots and was an elite tackler during his career with them. In 2007, amid the Patriots’ perfect regular season, he earned his first Pro Bowl nod and was voted First-Team All-Pro.
After retiring, Vrabel went into coaching and has been the Titans head coach since 2018.
Vrabel coached against Brady in Brady’s final game with the New England Patriots, beating his former team in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
