Titans Draft Malik Willis In Third Round: NFL World Reacts

April 30, 2022 by The Spun

Malik Willis at NFL Combine.

Malik Willis has officially come off the board. Moments ago, the Tennessee Titans traded up to pick No. 86 so they can select the talented quarterback from Liberty.

One of the biggest surprises in this year’s draft is that Willis fell all the way to the third round. However, the Titans clearly saw enough potential in Willis to make a trade and select him.

While it’s highly unlikely Willis starts for the Titans this fall, he could eventually replace Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee. At least that’s what some NFL fans think.

“This is an outstanding situation for Malik,” one fan tweeted. “Tannehill is nothing but a professional, and will absolutely help Malik develop.”

“84 picks later than I thought he would,” another fan wrote. “Like this fit better than the ATL fit save about 18 mil moving on from Tannehill in 2023 with a roster that will be ready to compete.”

“Tannehill on notice – And remember they chose to pay Tannehill more than Brady,” an NFL fan wrote.

Willis finished his final season at Liberty with 2,857 passing yards and 27 touchdown passes. He also had 878 yards and 13 scores on the ground.

There’s no question Willis has the talent to be a starter in the NFL. It’s up to the Titans though to properly develop him.
