Following the 44-13 win over the Hurricanes, Saban suggested his team didn’t play a full 60 minutes. Meanwhile, Tebow couldn’t stop gushing over the performance from quarterback Bryce Young.
The former Heisman Trophy winner had just one word to describe the Week 1 performance from Young: special.
“I think he’s special,” Tebow said. “I think he’s really good. I also want to say I think everything else around him was really good. The play calling was really good by Bill O’Brien.”
Here’s more of what he had to say, via 247Sports:
“You know I said beforehand, I think there’s a lot of pressure on him. I think he absolutely stepped up in that pressure. I thought the offensive line did a really good job handling the pressures from (Miami head coach) Manny Diaz. I thought the receivers were ridiculous. … Their backs played well, the defense played well, so did Bryce Young. (Did he do) everything that he was supposed to and more? Yes, but so did everybody else.”
In his first start of the 2021 season against a ranked team, Young threw for 344 yards and four touchdowns. He completed over 71-percent of his passes en route to the blowout win over the Hurricanes.
If he keeps that up, he’ll be right in the thick of the Heisman conversation.
