14 months ago Tiger Woods nearly saw his golf career end in a devastating car crash. Today, he completed his first round at the 2022 Masters.
Tiger just completed his first of what everyone hopes will be four rounds at Augusta. The 15-time major winner and five-time Masters champion finished with a respectable score of 71.
His first seven holes went better than expected as he went for par on his first five before recording a birdie on the par-3 sixth hole. He hit a snag with a bogey on the eighth but recovered on the back nine.
After pars on holes 10 through 12, Tiger got birdies on the 13th and 16th, but suffered a bogey on the 14th. He was inches away from at least one more birdie on the final two holes but settled for his one-under finish.
As you can imagine, golf fans are thrilled for Tiger:
What a triumph of a day for Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods sits at one-under and in a tie for eighth heading into Round Two on Friday. It’s hard to gauge where the cut line will be right now given that so many golfers are right in the middle of their round.
But heading into Round Two, Tiger is not only comfortably ahead of the cut line, he’s right in the thick of it. He’s three strokes behind current tournament leaders Cameron Smith and Scottie Scheffler, who sit at four-under right now.
A lot of people believe that Tiger can win the whole thing this year. Those people didn’t lose any confidence in that after today’s results.
Will Tiger win the Masters?
