Just over a year since he was involved in a horrifying car accident, Tiger Woods made his long-awaited return to competitive golf with a stunning first-round 71 at the 2022 Masters on Thursday.
Though he finished the day at Augusta National with a 1-under score, the international golf superstar wasn’t feeling too great earlier this morning.
After he came off the 18th, Tiger told ESPN about how he felt heading into today’s round.
“I did not have a very good warmup. I hit it awful,” he said.

Perhaps Tiger just needed to settle in after taking the course for his first competitive round in 17 months.
On his first swing of the day, the 46-year-old golfer mishit his tee shot just right of the fairway bunker. Coming up short on his second, he had quite a bit of work to do to get up-and-down for par. But after leaving himself a decent putt, Tiger did just that.
After his par save on No. 1, he went on to notch a consistent round including three birdies and two bogies. Another impressive par save on No. 18 allowed him to finish with his final-score 71.
Tiger currently sits tied in ninth place at 1-under.
