The Golden State Warriors have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, but most of the basketball world expects the Western Conference contenders to consider trading it.
This week, a blockbuster trade rumor surfaced.
According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, there’s been some talk around the league about a potential trade between Golden State and San Antonio. The Warriors reportedly have interest in Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge.
Golden State could trade the No. 2 overall pick to San Antonio for Aldridge and the No. 11 overall pick. Lowe, meanwhile, thinks the idea is crazy.
“Someone within the league today texted me, ‘Hey, there’s a little buzz about No. 2 to San Antonio for Lamarcus Aldridge and No. 11,’ ” Lowe on his podcast this week. “And obviously there’d have to be salary going out [for the Warriors]. And my response was, ‘That’s crazy. The Warriors should not do that. You don’t trade the No.2 pick for LaMarcus Aldridge.’”

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Golden State trade the No. 2 overall pick for a veteran, but it would be pretty stunning if that veteran is LaMarcus Aldridge.
The Spurs’ big man is a good player, but he doesn’t feel like a good fit in Golden State’s pace-and-play system.
The 2020 NBA Draft is set for Nov. 18.
