The Packers Are Keeping A Secret Before Their Season Opener

The Green Bay Packers are keeping a notable roster decision a secret ahead of their Week 1 season opener against the New Orleans Saints.

Green Bay has yet to reveal its starting offensive line for the season opener. And the Packers will be keeping that decision a secret before Week 1.

Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed on Sunday that he won’t be revealing his starting offensive line before game time.

“Yeah, we do, we have a pretty good idea of what we’re going to do,” LaFleur said Sunday. “We do still have some practices, but we won’t unveil any of that until game time.”

Packers Wire outlined the main question right now:

One uncertainty for the offensive line is the status of All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari, who remains on the PUP list while recovering from last season’s ACL injury. The entire look of the offensive line would look different if Bakhtiari is ready for Week 1.

Some clarity will arrive soon. The Packers must decide whether to keep Bakhtiari on the PUP list – which would rule him out for the first six weeks – or activate him before Tuesday and include him on the initial 53-man roster.

Bakhtiari has been out since the end of the 2020 season with a torn ACL.

The Packers open the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the New Orleans Saints.

Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. E.T. on FOX.
