While Indiana bowed out early in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, one Hoosier stooped out from the crowd. And it wasn’t a basketball player.
Indiana cheerleader Cassidy Cerny became an overnight sensation when she helped pluck a stuck ball out of the backboard during a game. She was hoisted 13 feet up into the air by fellow cheerleader Nathan Paris to get it.
Fans were delighted by the scene both at the game and at home. That moment has since been one of the most viral of the entire tournament – and it’s about to make Cerny a lot of money.
According to Darren Rovell of The Action Network, Cerny has signed a name, image and likeness deal with the BreakingT sports apparel company. The front of the shirt says “The Cheerleader Saves The Day” in homage to the famous call made by CBS’ Andrew Catalon during the game.

Unfortunately for Indiana fans, the moment might not be as special given the context of the game. They wound up getting clobbered by Saint Mary’s in the game en route to a 82-53 loss.
It was a frustrating end to a trying first year under head coach Mike Woodson. NBA careers might wind up being impacted by the Hoosiers’ performance in the game.
But for Cassidy Cerny, she’s going to be one of the rare cheerleaders who gets to really cash in on her newfound stardom.
At least someone in Bloomington will be happy this spring…
