The Green Bay Packers announced a pair of roster moves this Friday before their preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills.
Nearly a week after re-signing quarterback Jake Dolegala, the Packers have decided to release him. Taking his place on the roster is cornerback Rojesterman Farris.
This is the second time this year that Dolegala was released by Green Bay. He was initially released on July 27. The New England Patriots claimed Dolegala off waivers, but his second stint with the team didn’t last very long.
Dolegala needed a stellar performance last weekend against the Jets in order to stay on the roster for another week. Instead, he threw just one pass that ended up being intercepted.

With Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love already guaranteed to make the 53-man roster, the margin of error was so slim for Dolegala. It also doesn’t help that third-string quarterback Kurt Benkert has been better than him in the preseason.
Last week, Benkert went 18-for-25 for 151 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He’ll need to be better this Saturday against the Bills if he wants any shot at making the 53-man roster.
Final roster cuts are due on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. The Packers have a long way to go in order to get their roster down to 53 players.
