This Tuesday afternoon is the deadline for NFL teams to reduce their rosters to 85 players. With the Cincinnati Bengals over that mark as of this morning, they’ve released three players to help reach it.
On Monday, the Bengals announced that they have released a trio of pass catchers. Wide receiver Reece Horn, receiver Riley Lees, and tight end Pro Wells have all been waived by the team.
Lees signed with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent after the 2021 NFL Draft. He previously played four seasons at Northwestern, recording 111 receptions for 1,093 yards and nine touchdowns in 47 games.
Wells also went undrafted in the 2021 Draft after playing five years of college football – split between Milford Academy, Northwest Mississippi Community College and TCU. In his final two years with the Horned Frogs, Wells has 30 receptions for 391 yards and eight touchdowns.
Horn played college football at the University of Indianapolis from 2012 to 2015, earning all-conference honors three times. He went undrafted in 2016 but has not made a final NFL roster. But he has found playing time in Europe, and as a player in the short-lived AAF and XFL.
We’ve waived WR Reece Horn, WR Riley Lees and TE Pro Wells. Our roster now stands at 85 players.

With the release of Lees, Wells and Horn, the Bengals are now at 85 players ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.
Hopefully their release doesn’t spell the end of their playing careers. They’re on waivers so maybe another team will pick them up.
Fingers crossed.
