Judging the strength of a college basketball conference off a single-elimination event like the NCAA Tournament probably isn’t smart.
However, for the Big Ten – a conference that hasn’t won a national championship in men’s basketball since Michigan State in 2000 – it might be kind of fair.
This year, the Big Ten once again sent a ton of teams to the NCAA Tournament, with nine teams getting into the Big Dance.
Fast forward to Sunday night, though, and only two remain – with just one having locked in a spot in the Sweet 16.
Michigan is already in the Sweet 16, having upset Tennessee on Saturday, while No. 3 seed Purdue is hoping to advance tonight.
No. 3 seed Wisconsin, No. 4 seed Illinois, No. 5 seed Iowa, No. 7 seed Ohio State, No. 10 seed Michigan State, No. 11 seed Rutgers and No. 12 seed Indiana have all been eliminated.
No way to couch this. @BoilerBall has to save the day for @B1GMBBall. The Boilers were always the best chance to get to the Final Four, let alone the Sweet 16. Disaster day for the Big Ten.

Seth Davis was pretty much right about the Big Ten

Big Ten should just play 24 league games because the NCAA Tournament has been a no-go.

i am calling for a complete and total shutdown of big ten basketball until we can figure out what’s going on

Big Ten got NINE teams in. Why isn’t this being investigated? @FBI

the big ten underperforming in the tourney (except michigan) is a surprise to exactly zero people who follow big ten men’s basketball

Does anyone have any theories on why the Big Ten continues to underperform in the NCAA Tournament?
Because something is clearly wrong and the league needs to figure it out.
