The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of depth on their roster heading into the 2021 season. And they make take advantage of that depth as other teams try to improve their final rosters.
According to ESPN’s Cowboys insider Todd Archer, multiple teams are “eyeing a move” for Dallas guard Connor McGovern. However, the Cowboys are reportedly reluctant to trade him.
McGovern started eight of 14 games for Dallas at right guard this past season. The team reportedly sees him as a potential starter even if he doesn’t start in Week 1.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy had high praise for McGovern recently, complimenting how he finished the 2020 season. “He had a tremendous finish as far as his growth as a player throughout last year,” McCarthy recently said.

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Connor McGovern in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft after previously earning All-Big Ten honors at Penn State.
Unfortunately, McGovern’s NFL career got off to a slow start. He missed the entirety of his rookie season due to a torn pectoral muscle.
McGovern started last year – his second – as a backup, but quickly saw action as injuries took their toll. He played well and was credited with helping the Cowboys stabilize their line towards the end of the season.
NFL teams will often pay a premium for top offensive linemen. And while McGovern may not be a Pro Bowler, the Cowboys might be able to get solid compensation for him.
