The Chicago Bears moved on from Mitchell Trubisky after a disappointing 2020 season. The former No. 2 pick had moments during his four years in the Windy City, but never managed to put it all together.
The Bears signed veteran Andy Dalton, and then made a big move up in the 2021 NFL Draft to take Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. Dalton is set to start the year, though fans have been clamoring to Fields, who has impressed during the offseason.
Trubisky is now the Buffalo Bills‘ backup, behind star Josh Allen. He won’t have to wait long to get a shot against his former team, with the Bills traveling to Chicago for a preseason game on Saturday afternoon. It stands to reason that Trubisky should get plenty of snaps, but he also might hear it from fans of his former club.
Tarik Cohen, the Bears’ talented running back, hopes that isn’t the case. He made his thoughts on the matter very clear.
If you boo Mitch tomorrow you a lame and a weirdo

Cohen was taken by the Bears in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the same year that they selected Trubisky with the No. 2 pick. They were both 2018 Pro Bowlers as well. Trubisky made it as a replacement for Jared Goff, after what was his best NFL season to date, while Cohen earned the honors, as well as a First-Team All-Pro nod as a kick returner.
While the Bears let Mitchell Trubisky walk, they re-signed the versatile Cohen to a three-year, $17.25 million deal last September. A week later, he tore his ACL, ending his season after three games.
It would be nice if everyone was respectful in Chicago this weekend. I wouldn’t bet on everyone at Soldier Field doing so though.
