Stetson Bennett’s Younger Brother Announces His Commitment

April 1, 2022 by The Spun

Stetson Bennett initially joined Georgia as a walk-on before leading the Bulldogs to a national championship last year. His younger brother, Luke Bennett, is hoping to follow in his footsteps.

The wide receiver from Blackshear’s Pierce County High School committed to Georgia as a walk-on athlete. He announced his decision Thursday morning on Twitter.

The younger Bennett, who also lists himself as a running back in his Twitter bio, scored 13 total touchdowns for the County Bears. Per ESPN Coastal’s Christian Goeckel, Luke said he started playing wide receiver with his other brother, Knox, since the family already had a quarterback.

“Me, Knox, and Stet have always run routes in the yard. Always played one-on-one. Stetson was always all-time QB,” Bennett said. “From a young age, it was always us two out in the front yard. He had to have somebody to throw to. Me and Knox were those guys.”

At 5’11” and 180 pounds, Luke recorded a 4.58 40-time last year. Yet he didn’t receive much consideration from scouts after catching nine of 14 targets for 179 yards and three touchdowns in his senior season.

The older Bennett, meanwhile, decided to return to school after tossing 29 passing touchdowns with 10.0 yards per pass attempt last year. There’s an outside chance he’ll get to target his brother before leaving Georgia.
