The Pittsburgh Steelers continued what’s been a very solid offseason with the signing of Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack, Wednesday. Per Adam Schefter, Jack is expected to sign a two-year, $16 million deal to join Mike Tomlin’s stout defense.
In order to bring in Jack, however, the Steelers were forced to release a productive member of their linebacking core.
Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette‘s Gerry Dulac, “The addition of Myles Jack means the Steelers will release Joe Schobert, who was scheduled to count $9.7 million against the salary cap in 2022.”

Jack didn’t last on the free agent market long. Shortly after the former second-round pick was released Wednesday, he was subsequently picked up by Pittsburgh.
Myles Jack was the Jaguars leading tackler last season, wrapping up 108 ballcarriers on the year. And in three of the past four seasons, the UCLA product has tallied at least 107 tackles.
At just 27 years of age, he figures to bring some youth and added athleticism to one of the better defenses in the AFC. The Steelers have been searching for a sideline-to-sideline LB in the middle since the Ryan Shazier suffered a career-ending injury in 2017.
