The final day of the 2021 NFL regular season is here.
It’s the first Week 18 in NFL history, as teams across the league are set to play their 17th and final game of the regular season. We had two Week 18 games on Saturday night, with the Chiefs beating the Broncos and the Cowboys topping the Eagles, with the rest of the league scheduled to play on Sunday afternoon and Sunday night.
One prominent NFL figure will not be taking part in Sunday’s Week 18 finale, though – Jim Nantz.
The longtime CBS broadcaster was set to call the Tampa Bay vs. Carolina game with Tony Romo. However, he will miss this week’s game.
“Tom McCarthy will work with Tony Romo on the Tampa Bay-Carolina game this Sunday for CBS. Jim Nantz will be out this week due to health & safety protocols,” Andrew Marchand tweeted.

While this is tough news for Jim Nantz, fans are excited to see Tom McCarthy get the nod for a big-time NFL game.
McCarthy is the play-by-play announcer for Philadelphia Phillies and also does NFL regular season games.

Huge opportunity for Tom. Really wish they moved Ian Eagle into that slot, but understand that Nantz is incredibly petty about that competition. https://t.co/Nu28kazyeX

Sucks for Jim but a huge opportunity for T-Mac. Hope he absolutely kills it! https://t.co/KDq5dSizYp

It should be a fun broadcast.
The Bucs and the Panthers are scheduled to kick off at 4:25 p.m. E.T. The game will air on CBS.
