Lionel Messi isn’t the only multi-time Ballon d’Or winner who had a bizarre summer. Soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo is having some issues at his club as well right now that are creeping onto the pitch.
Ahead of today’s game against Udinese, the Juventus striker was officially listed on the bench for the club’s Serie A season opener. But apparently it wasn’t exactly a tactical decision from Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.
According to soccer insider Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo requested that he be placed on the bench for the game. Per the report, he is awaiting a solution to the transfer market as he tries to leave the club ahead of the September 1 deadline.
But may not find a solution as quickly as he wants to. Romano reported that Juventus have received no bids at all for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Ronaldo has been vague on his situation in Italy, denying some transfer rumors but letting others linger. It’s a confusing situation that has been baffling fans for a while:
Wait, he literally said days ago that he’s staying and now he wants to leave?
By miles the craziest football transfer window ever.

For what it’s worth, Juventus have maintained that Ronaldo will not leave. Club VP Pavel Nedved recently said that the two sides will remain together.
But we’ve seen clubs go back on their word before…
Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved about CR7 out of the starting XI: “We’ve decided together with Ronaldo. It’s normal. Ronaldo will 100% STAY”, he told DAZN. 🇵🇹⚪️ #Ronaldo
Juventus are still convinced Cristiano will stay – as they’ve received NO official bids for him. pic.twitter.com/Fzo7aDImDh

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus in 2018 after a historic career at Real Madrid that saw him capture countless accolades. But he hasn’t quite been able to replicate that success at Juventus despite a stellar surrounding cast.
Ronaldo won back-to-back Serie A titles in his first two years with the Italian club. But they haven’t been able to reach the Semifinals in the more vaunted Champions League.
Given Ronaldo’s immense salary and Juventus’ high asking price for a transfer, the number of teams that can even afford him is small. And this late in the transfer window, after months of buying and selling across Europe, the odds of him being moved – if that is the case – are even smaller.
Will Cristiano Ronaldo play the entire 2021-22 season at Juventus?
