What Tom Brady was able to accomplish last year in Tampa Bay was flat out astounding. He remained a top-five quarterback in the league statistically and led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory at the ripe old age of 43.
Brady is back in Tampa after knee surgery and his 44th birthday celebration, primed and ready to go. Although the inevitable drop-off has to come some day, signs seem to indicate that he’ll be just as good as ever in 2021.
According to Skip Bayless, Brady might actually be better than ever.
The FOX Sports host, who’s no stranger to jaw-dropping takes, revealed his bold prediction about the Buccaneers quarterback. Bayless thinks that Brady will win the league’s MVP award after he has the best season of his professional career.
“I am predicting that [Tom Brady] will have his greatest season yet and that he will win the MVP this year,” Bayless proclaimed on Thursday.

Bayless’ isn’t crazy to suggest that Brady could win the MVP this year. Although he’ll be hard-pressed to beat out some of the league’s up-and-coming quarterbacks, the Buccaneers stacked offensive roster should give him a major boost.
However, to suggest that Brady will surpass his showing during the 2007 regular season is outlandish. During that year, when the New England Patriots went 16-0, he put up career numbers. He led the league in completion percentage (68.3), passing yards (4,803) and passing touchdowns (50). To this day, Brady’s 2007 remains one of the best seasons ever played.
Even last year, the Buccaneers quarterback posted numbers that will be hard to top at the age of 44. Brady threw for another 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns during the regular season before continuing to dominate during the playoffs. Both of those marks ranked in the top-three among quarterbacks in 2020.
One day, Brady will have to slow down and inevitably retire. However, there’s nothing to indicate that 2021 will be a major drop-off.
Brady himself probably isn’t that invested in his individuals numbers, but he will want to do whatever it takes to give the Buccaneers the best chance they have to win another Super Bowl next February.
