Tiger Woods‘ much-anticipated return to the Masters is off to a great start. Woods shot -1 on Thursday in his first competitive golf in more than a year.
Among the many people who were impressed by Tiger’s return was FS1’s Skip Bayless, who offered his thoughts on the 15-time major winner’s first round performance tonight.
“Tiger Woods is the greatest clutch putter ever. What has he been able to practice the most since nearly losing his leg (if not life)? His putting,” Bayless said. “Today he clutch-putted his way to a miraculous one-under 71 on greens he knows like the back of his, well, leg. Welcome back, sir.

Interestingly, while his showing when it mattered was impressive, Woods said he had an “awful” warmup before his round.
However, he was able to shake that off and put together an 18-hole showing that has him tied for 10th heading into tomorrow.
“As the round built, I was able to get into the red,” Woods told ESPN. “Got out of there, got to even par. Made two stupid mistakes at 8 [which he bogeyed] back to back. Lost my concentration a little bit there. But I fought back. And for the day, to end up in the red, I’m right where I need to be.”
Tiger Woods will tee off in the second round of the Masters at 1:41 p.m. ET on Friday.
