Former Raiders’ QB Jason Campbell tells classic tale

If you’re a Raiders’ fan, you never grow tired of hearing stories of the late, legendary Al Davis.

The godfather of the Raiders was a Hall of Fame personality in addition to being an NFL icon, The stories are endless and former Raiders’ quarterback Jason Campbell recently told a tale on the Next Round about Davis that is hilarious and totally believable.

Campbell, who was the Raiders’ quarterback from 2010-11, said during a game against the Seattle Seahawks in 2010, he was told on the sideline he had a phone call. He thought it was a position coach. To his shock, the voice on the other end of the line was none of that Davis. The owner had a play he wanted Campbell to run. Campbell was hesitant and Davis, in no uncertain terms, made it clear he wanted a certain play.

Campbell sheepishly went into the huddle and pleased wide receiver Darius Heyward-Bey to get open on this bomb play. The result? Touchdown, Raiders.

The Raiders beat Seattle, 33-3, on Halloween that day. Davis died the following October.

What a legend.
