Linebacker Jaylon Smith is getting another shot with the Las Vegas Raiders having a try out at rookie mini-camp
The Las Vegas Raiders are starting their annual rookie mini-camp after drafting 11 players. Raider Nation was excited to see the young players in action, especially Ashton Jeanty for the first time.
Rookie mini-camp can also become an opportunity for other players to try out for the football team. The Raiders want to keep adding bodies for training camp and work out veterans. One of them is a player who joined the Raiders for a short period in 2023. Jaylon Smith is attempting to return to the NFL and is getting a shot with the Silver and Black.
Smith suffered a terrible injury before the 2016 NFL draft, but he had productive seasons with the Cowboys, including his first Pro Bowl selection in 2019. That season, he recorded 142 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
He has been struggling to stay in the NFL, missing all of 2024, but hopes to land a spot with Pete Carroll. Smith is also familiar with Patrick Graham and learns the defensive system quickly.
