Raiders’ offense needs to become more efficient in 2024
We know a key to the Las Vegas Raiders becoming a true playoff contender in the 2024 NFL season is better and more efficient play from the offense.
The Raiders’ problems on offense in 2023 were well documented. Yet, a recent tweet by NFL anala
yt Warren Sharp shows just how frustrating the unit was at times last season.
The Raiders 60 percent of their offensive drives end with either an A.J. Cole punt or a turnover. That’s pretty rough. In fact, it was sixth highest percentage in the league. Only Cleveland was among the teams with a higher percentage than the Raiders to make the playoffs last season.
Here is Sharp’s complete list:
% of drives ending in a punt or turnover
70% – NE
69% – CAR
68%
67%
66% – NYJ, NYG
65%
64%
63%
62%
61% – CLE
60% – LV
59% – WAS
58% – LAC, PIT, ATL, MIN, TEN
57%
56% – DEN
55% – TB, CHI, HOU, CIN
54% – ARI, JAX
53% – KC
52%
51% – NO, IND, SEA
50% – DET, MIA
49% – PHI
48% – GB,…— Warren Sharp (@SharpFootball) April 22, 2024
It may be simple, but new Las Vegas offensive coordinator Luke Getsy must work diligently on cutting down this percentage.
