Las Vegas Raiders superstar tight end was suprised when the Raiders made the call during draft night
The Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers has been getting praise from the NFL since his breakout rookie season. ESPN recently ranked him as the number one tight end in the NFL as a rookie. It made history as it was the first rookie in the history of their rankings to receive the honor.
It was shocking when Bowers was drafted by the Raiders in 2023. Leading up to the draft, the cornerback and offensive line appeared to be the top choices for the team. When Bowers fell to the Raiders at 13, Tom Telesco couldn’t resist and took the tight end to the surprise of fans and the media.
Bowers was surprised as well. He recently joined the Bussin with the Boys podcast and discussed the day he got the phone call.
“I didn’t talk to them a ton, I talked to other teams a lot more and then all of a sudden I’m sitting there on draft night and I get a call. Me and my agent are talking and Las Vegas isn’t even in the picture really. … All of a sudden I get a call and it says Las Vegas, Nevada.”
Raiders made the right choice, and now it is up to Chip Kelly to find ways to get him the football.
