This is a telling and scary stat
Sometimes it’s good to think about what you don’t have anymore to truly be appreciate that you don’t have it anymore … or something like that.
Gardner Minshew is one of the situations. Las Vegas raiders fans should be very relieved he is no longer their starting quarterback. Minshew, who was the team’s Week 1 starter and who started nine games, was simply dreadful as a Raider.
Yet, a recent tweet by NFL analyst Warren Sharp illustrates just how awful Minshew was last season before an injury ended his season. According to Sharp, Minshew suffered the lowest percentage of incompletions on third down due to wide receiver error on third down.
Yet, he still couldn’t make plays.
% of 3rd down incompletions which were due to receiver error:
32.7% – Jordan Love
27.3% – Daniel Jones
18.9% – Joe Burrow
18.6% – Kirk Cousins
17.9% – Trevor Lawrence
17.6% – Drake Maye
17.2% – Caleb Williams
16.7% – Joe Flacco
16.0% – Patrick Mahomes
15.6% – Lamar Jackson
15.4%…— Warren Sharp (@SharpFootball) July 3, 2025
Looking ahead, if the Raiders’ wide receivers can continue to play clean, new starter Geno Smith should be able to cash in much better than Minshew did.
