NFL: Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Rams Joint Practice
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Rookie Tre’von Moehrig was a stand out during Joint practices

Tre’von Moehrig was one of the top prospects at safety in the 2020 NFL draft. The former TCU star had aspirations to go in the first round. Luckily for the Las Vegas Raiders, he fell to the second round and already could be a steal.

The safety enjoyed his best week of practice against the Los Angeles Rams. He intercepted Matthew Stafford on day one and this fantastic pass break up on day two.

Jon Gruden noticed his play and spoke of it during his press conference Thursday.

“Yeah, I’m really pleased with him. I thought he did an excellent job. Very pleased with a lot of our young players. Second-year receivers and Moehrig in the middle of our defense. [Damon] Arnette had a couple of good days, Trayvon Mullen is stepping his game up. So, we’ll go look at this tape and I know it wasn’t perfect, but pretty good. Pretty good against a very good offensive team. We’re excited about it.”

The Raiders haven’t had an excellent safety since Charles Woodson was on the back end of his career. Moehrig is giving Raiders fans hope that he can carry the torch into the future at the position.
