Several Raiders Legends Among Nominees For Pro Football Hall Of Fame

The Las Vegas Raiders had 11 former players nominated Wednesday for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

A total of 128 Modern-Era Players headline the list of Class of 2026 nominees, including 77 offensive players, 42 defensive players and nine special teams players.

Former Raiders tight end  Jason Witten is one of the thirteen players in their first year of eligibility.

Among the 11 Raiders eligible, longtime Raiders Steve Wisniewski and Shane Lechler stand out as the most likely to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Wisniewski played his entire career with the Raiders, spanning 13 seasons. During that time, he was a two-time First-Team All-Pro, a six-time Second-Team All-Pro, an eight-time Pro Bowler and was named to the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team.

Lechler is similarly decorated, with six First-Team All-Pro and three Second-Team All-Pro selections. He also made seven Pro Bowls and was named to two separate All-Decade Teams, 2000s and 2010s. The renowned punter spent 13 seasons with the Silver and Black and received his first nomination in 2023.

A Screening Committee will reduce the list to 50 in the next stage of the process, with the results announced in mid-October. Further reductions to 25 players and then 15 players will have taken place by the time the annual selection meeting takes place ahead of Super Bowl LX.

The Class of 2026 can consist of three, four or five Modern-Era Players according to the Hall of Fame’s bylaws.
