The Seattle Seahawks released a young tight end on Sunday night, as the team starts to get down to 80 players ahead of Tuesday’s roster deadline.
Seattle announced on Sunday evening that the team has waived tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson.
Wood-Anderson, a 23-year-old undrafted tight end out of the University of Tennessee, signed with the Seahawks last year. He was waived before the start of the season and re-signed with the team this past June.
As Pro Football Talk notes, Wood-Anderson’s release was not surprising:
The move was not unexpected after his performance in Saturday night’s preseason game.
Wood-Anderson played 35 offensive snaps and seven on special teams. He had no stats but five penalties for 30 yards.
That’s not the kind of performance you want heading into the end of the preseason.

Wood-Anderson caught 38 passes for 408 yards and three touchdowns in 24 games with the Volunteers.
Seattle, meanwhile, is set to open the 2021 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Indianapolis Colts.
