Part of what makes Bills quarterback Josh Allen so dangerous is his ability to pair his cannon arm with bruising running ability, on a 6-foot-5, 240-pound frame.
And while head coach Sean McDermott expects Allen to continue to improve, he’d like to see his QB do it more with his arm than his legs.
“We’re always trying to evolve,” McDermott told NFL.com’s Judy Battista. “On the field, off the field, schematically – and in this case with Josh’s running or the amount of times that we run him, we have to continue to evolve that way and making sure we’re doing right by him by doing right by our team.”

“So, we are going to keep a close eye on that,” the coach continued. “But the one thing we will never take from Josh is his competitive nature and spirit. So, he’s gonna do it when he’s gonna do it.”

Part of why the Bills relied on Allen to carry the ball so much, is because of their lack of a running game. Allen’s passing numbers were stellar; and he certainly has the build to absorb the punishment.
But, if the Bills have designs on winning a Super Bowl, it’s going to take more production for their backs.
“I think we all have to remember Josh is only going into year five, right, so I know Josh, as well as myself and Brandon and the entire team, are looking for Josh to continue to take another step,” McDermott explained. “And I know Josh is committed to that. I think that’s a sign of a great leader that leads by example.”
