Since trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, everyone has been wondering what the Seattle Seahawks’ plan is for quarterback in 2022. While the team has openly supported the quarterbacks on their roster, they’ve made calls about a few more.
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Seahawks would internally “prefer to add an experienced veteran starting quarterback” to their ranks. To that end, they’ve started making inquiry calls about two players.
The first is Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. With Atlanta believed to be the favorites to trade for Deshaun Watson, moving Ryan could be inevitable.
The second is Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. Cleveland also courted Deshaun Watson, but after failing to get him, Mayfield requested a trade.
Both would certainly fit the bill for what the Seahawks allegedly want from a quarterback.
I’m told the #Seahawks would ‘prefer to add an experienced veteran starting quarterback.’

It’s hard to gauge where the Seattle Seahawks really are – or where they might go – as a team in 2022. While they have talent on the roster, Russell Wilson was the glue that kept them together as perennial Super Bowl contenders.
You can’t just plug-and-play any quarterback into the roster and expect identical results. Especially in the absence of an elite defense, which they had at the height of their power.
But the Seahawks need somebody to take the reins in 2022 that’ll give the team for confidence. Going in with Drew Lock as the Week 1 starter isn’t going to inspire confidence, or sell tickets.
Which quarterbacks do you think the Seahawks should start making trade calls for?
