After a pro day that left the collective football world walking away impressed, Liberty quarterback Malik Willis continues to climb up NFL draft boards.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Sam Ponder had some high praise for the talented young QB.
“After spending the last 2 days with and around Malik, I know 1 thing for sure…” Ponder tweeted. “His NFL teammates/fans will absolutely LOVE him.”

In a clip posted to a Liberty Flames fan account, Ponder explained why Malik Willis threw as many balls as he did at his pro day: because he wanted his teammates to get some shine.
According to reports, Willis has blown teams away during the interview process. And his running ability paired with a rocket arm has a ton of teams intrigued.
The Liberty standout is currently slated to go to the Steelers at 20 in Mel Kiper Jr.’s mock draft. But, his recent performances have Willis creeping into the top 10. In some cases, No. 2 overall.
He and Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett are the consensus top-two quarterbacks in the upcoming draft. As crazy as this offseason has been to this point, who knows how things will ultimately shake out.
