Saints Make Decision On Final Preseason Game Ahead Of Tropical Storm Ida

The New Orleans Saints have altered the game time for their preseason finale in preparation for Tropical Storm Ida.

Originally scheduled to kickoff in Caesars Superdome on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, the matchup against the Arizona Cardinals will now begin at 1 p.m. ET. The decision was made in agreement with City of New Orleans officials, the National Weather Service, Homeland Security and the NFL in order to make “proper and safe preparations,” per NewOrleansSaints.com.

According to The Weather Channel, Tropical Storm Ida is “strengthening” as it heads towards the Gulf Coast. The storm is set to make landfall as a “major hurricane” on Sunday with potential “life-threatening storm surge and rainfall flooding, destructive winds and tornadoes.”

The National Weather Service says the storm could hit New Orleans as a Category 3 hurricane. The state of Louisiana is currently under a state of emergency.

“By Saturday evening, everyone should be in the location where they intend to ride out the storm,” Governor John Bel Edwards said.

This earlier kickoff time will in theory allow the Cardinals to travel after the game and give the Saints time to hunker down for the storm.
