On Thursday, the Seahawks signed defensive end Carlos Dunlap to a two-year, $16.6 million deal that includes $8.5 million guaranteed.
Dunlap was cut prior to the start of free agency due to his cap number, but clearly the two sides wanted to work out a new deal. The two-time Pro Bowler confirmed the move on social media, tweeting “Year 12 with the 12’s! -Damn Dunlap the Passion Continues.”
Wilson also shared his thoughts on Dunlap’s contract on Twitter, posting “LETS GOOO!!! @Carlos_Dunlap Back!”

Similar tweets were also posted on Wilson’s account when Seattle reached deals with Chris Carson, Kerry Hyder and Poona Ford.
This is an encouraging sign that Wilson is willing to work things out with the Seahawks. If he really wants out, he’d probably avoid commenting on the team’s moves altogether.
While the Seahawks will keep Dunlap for the 2021 season, ESPN insider Adam Schefter has announced that Jarran Reed will not be back. He’ll either get traded or released in the coming weeks, saving the team $9 million in cap space.
Seattle’s defense will look a tad different this year without Shaquill Griffin and Jarran Reed, but at least the offense will still have Russell Wilson under center.
