Recent video of free-agent tight end Rob Gronkowski in a Tampa Bay barber shop indicates that a return to the Buccaneers in 2022 is still very much in the question.
In the clip, the four-time Super Bowl champion said there’s a “very good chance” that he suits up for the Bucs again this coming season. He also joked about his longtime teammate Tom Brady, who announced his decision to come out of retirement and rejoin the Tampa Bay squad earlier this week.
“I’ll let him have a little scare. Give him a couple months without me,” Gronk said. “He just did it to me for a couple of months so I’m gonna do it to him now.”

The NFL world took to Twitter to react to this video.
Brady and Gronk are a prime example of the most annoying ‘we’re a package or we’re not playing’ kids getting picked for elementary school kickball,” one fan wrote.
“Translation: I’m too damn old to be going through OTAs and training camp,” another added.
Gronk has only ever gone into an NFL season with Brady as his quarterback — first with the New England Patriots from 2010-18 and then the past two seasons with Tampa Bay. When Brady announced his retirement earlier this offseason, many assumed that this was the end for Gronkowski as well. But now that No. 12 is coming back, the 32-year-old tight end will most likely take the field as well.
After winning a Super Bowl title with Brady and the Bucs in 2020, Gronk finished the 2021 season with 802 yards and six touchdowns through 12 regular-season games.
