Earlier Tuesday, it seemed like the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a new contract with pass rusher Randy Gregory.
However, just a few hours later, the Denver Broncos swooped in and landed Gregory on the exact same deal the Cowboys offered. So what happened?
Well, according to a new report from David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, Gregory wasn’t happy with certain language in the contract offer from the Cowboys. A clause in the contract reportedly gives the team the right to void or withhold money if a player is fined by the NFL.
Moore said that clause is why Gregory doesn’t want to play for the Cowboys. He also noted that the team has the same clause in every contract it offers – except the one for Dak Prescott.
“Sources say language that Randy Gregory objected to is standard language in every Cowboys player contract w/ one exception: Dak Prescott,” Moore said. “Clause gives club the right to void or withhold money if player is fined by NFL. Sources stress it has never invoked the clause.”

In the end, Gregory opted to sign in Denver, where he join star quarterback Russell Wilson. The Broncos have done an incredible job this offseason and should be right in the thick of the playoff race.
Did Gregory make the right decision to sign in Denver?
We’ll find out soon.
