On Thursday, longtime Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield requested a trade away from the organization that drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2018.
Now on the hunt for their next franchise quarterback, the Browns need to figure out what kind of value they can get in a trade for Mayfield.
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, league sources believe Mayfield will yield “2nd-rounder, or a conditional 3rd-rounder that turns into a 2nd” for the Cleveland organization.
For reference, the Indianapolis Colts received 2022 third-round pick, 2022 second-round pick and 2023 conditional third-round pick in exchange for Carson Wentz, a 2022 second-round pick and a 2022 seventh-round pick.
Speaking on value assessment: Perhaps a “2nd-rounder, or a conditional 3rd-rounder that turns into a 2nd” for Baker Mayfield, per league source.

Trade rumors for Mayfield began to swirl once the Browns were reported as pursuers of Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson earlier this offseason. But after the Cleveland organization was eliminated from the running on Thursday, they hoped Mayfield would be willing to return as their starter in 2022.
In Mayfield’s eyes, that bridge has been burned.
With a farewell message to the city of Cleveland earlier this week, the 26-year-old quarterback will now look ahead to the next step in his NFL career.
