With the latest addition of Ashton Jeanty, the Las Vegas Raiders will likely release former fourth-round pick Zamir White. According to Bleacher Report, they believe the team will part ways with White after having one of the worst 2024 campaigns before ending up on the injured reserve to end his season. Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Georgia product was hoping to carve out a role in this running game, but he couldn’t live up to expectations to become a solid starter. However, the Raiders are building a new offense under head coach Pete Carroll that will revolve around new quarterback Geno Smith this year.
In 2023, it was looking like White was going to be a capable running back for Las Vegas, but he couldn’t stay consistent the following season. The Raiders are building something possibly special, and White will likely not fit into that scheme anymore. White was supposed to be the successor of Packers running back Josh Jacobs before leaving for his new team. However, it didn’t pan out that way as he isn’t ready to take over as a full-time starter, and the Raiders should release him sooner rather than later.
It’s hard to imagine what type of market he will have this offseason before the regular season, but these five teams could take a chance on him as a backup.

Potential Destinations
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys still have one of the worst running back units in the league. The only promising backfield piece is 2025 draft pick Jaydon Blue, so he will likely beat out Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams for the starting role. Williams is already a cut candidate, and Sanders is too washed up. White could fill the hole as a reliable backup for the Cowboys’ run game.
Washington Commanders
Meanwhile, it could be crunch time for the running back unit in Washington. This is probably the only offensive unit with a lot of question marks. Austin Ekeler couldn’t stay healthy, and Brian Robinson Jr. has looked more like a bust and underperformed. White won’t start, but it could boost the unit in some way to help supply quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Kansas City Chiefs
While Isiah Pacheco may be on the hot seat, veteran Kareem Hunt could be cut before the 2025 regular season. Luckily, they did sign Elijah Mitchell on a one-year deal for some short-term relief. White will have to prove and could learn from this offense, and be an explosive backup, no matter who the starter is.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens don’t need a backup running back, but another option for quarterback Lamar Jackson to hand the ball off to. Keaton Mitchell has been inconsistent lately, and it’s better to get him some competition in the backfield. White could share the snaps to keep Derrick Henry healthy for the postseason.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, head coach Jim Harbaugh loves to win games with a run game, just like the trenches unit. However, Najee Harris could be on the hot seat as well since they drafted Omarion Hampton with the first-round pick. They will keep Harris, but if he doesn’t perform up to standards, they could acquire White for emergency depth.
